Make way! Ainsley Melham, a celebrated alum of of the Broadway, Australian and London productions of Disney's Aladdin, will reprise his turn in the title role in the main-stem production beginning in March. Melham will replace Clinton Greenspan, who will play his final performance at the New Amsterdam Theatre on February 16. Rodney Ingram will play the role in the interim; an exact start date for Melham will be announced soon.
Also joining the Broadway company next month will be Marina Pires (On Your Feet!) in her Broadway debut as Jasmine, for a run from March 24 through May 31. Arielle Jacobs will play her final performance as Jasmine on March 22 in advance of appearing in the new musical Between the Lines.
As previously announced, Michael James Scott will rejoin the Broadway production as the Genie on February 28, replacing Major Attaway, who will take his final bow on February 16.
Based on the hit Disney animated film, Aladdin features a book by Chad Beguelin, music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and additional lyrics by Beguelin. The production is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw with music supervision by Michael Kosarin.
